Phone calls say alot...

Tue 11.30.2004 @ 1:01 pm

Doing some phonecalls at work, I had to dial up certain businesses and ask for pertenent information. One thing I dislike is making phone calls, I loath it. bleh Anyway, the first couple of John Doe(s) where mean, cutting me off before I could even start a decent sentence, so I decided to change my accent. So this is what I found out.

On men:
When I deepen my tone of voice they take me more seriously.
When I raise my tone, they treat me like an airhead
When I use a British accent, 1/2 treated me well, 1/2 treated me very well, and one person started chatting with about where on Britain I was from. (I said from England. He proceeded to ask where in the city and the only place I know of is Notting Hill)
When I used an Indian accent, the people spoke slowly to me, like I was a child. I guess because they assumed I wouldn't understand their accents.
When I spoke with an australian accent I had to repeat myself,ÊÊguess I need to work on my Australian =/ Ê

Ê With Women:
A high tone of voice worked very well. They were polite and curtious.
With a low tone of voice they were less friendly, but still polite.
With a British accent some of the women (very few) were mean.
With an Indian accent almost all were curt but polite.
With an Australian accent they were polite. Ê

Interesting eh?

Even though mine was despressing as anything I suppose I have to see the bright side of things, no matter how dim the light appears to me right now. Because I did have my family and friends around me, all healthy and most in good spirits. For that I am gratefull.

Though to tell you the truth, I've never been much about celebrating this holiday. Especially knowing what it represents, historically speaking. I just take this holiday as another day to remind you to be grateful to God for all the love you give and recieve.

It all sounds good on paper doesn't it? But I still miss my grandmother, so much. My tendency to alientate myself (which I've always had) is growing stronger by the day. I can't even connect to alot of my friends now. It's pathetic, and I don't know how to fix it. But I'm glad they have patience to let me figure it out, if I ever do...

I'm sorry, this blog is turning out to be more of a depressing bore huh?

These are heartbreaking, beautiful lyrics

Amor Eterno
Como quisiera que tu vivieras
que tus ojitos jamas se hubieran
cerrado nunca y estar mirandolos.
Amor Eterno

Amor eterno e inolvidable
Tarde o temprano estare contigo para seguir amandonos

Yo he sufrido tanto por tu ausencia

Amor eterno e inolvidable
Tarde o temprano estare contigo para seguir amandonos

Amor Eterno (Amore Eterno) Eterno....

I don't know why I like this song so much...

Breaking my back just to know your name
Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game
I'm breaking my back just to know your name
But heaven ain't close in a place like this
Anything goes but don't blink you might miss
Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight

Well somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential

Ready? Let's roll onto something new
Taking its toll and I'm leaving without you

Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight

Well somebody told me
You had a boyfriend Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Pace yourself from me
I said maybe baby please
But I just don't know now
All I wanna do is try

Somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I Had in February Of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I Had in February Of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Question

"Does God want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses to be bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?"

Sancta Maria! (revised)

Tue 11.16.2004 @ 12:40 am

Sancta Maria! turn thine eyes -
Upon the sinner's sacrifice,
Of fervent prayer and humble love,
From thy holy throne above.

At morn - at noon - at twilight dim -
Maria! thou hast heard my hymn!
In joy and wo - in good and ill -
Mother of God, be with her still!

When the Hours flew brightly by,
And not a cloud obscured the sky,
My soul, lest it should truant be,
Thy grace did guide to her and thee;

Now, when storms of Fate o'ercast
Darkly her Present and my Past,
Let her Future radiant shine
With sweet hopes of thee and her!

today the votes are tallied and the president who is going to preside

Tue 11.02.2004 @ 3:03 pm
for the next 4 yrs is chosen... And everyone is soapboxing how important the "vote" is. Vote or Die is one of the slogans. Isn't it funny how alot of these young people will go and vote and have no idea what they are voting for. Straight party votes are detremental if this country truly wants to represent what the populous wants. Party stands have changed, often the values have moved to the other side more times than you have actually bothered to look them up. Uneducated voting is even worse than no vote at all. Think about that.

So vote, but don't do it because a celebrity tells you to, or because your a single woman who wants to be heard; or a man who doesn't want to be left out.

Vote. On issues you are familiar with, and don't straight party vote, unless ofcourse that party agrees with everything you want, which it they do, I will sprout wings tonight.

Hmm... interesting article over here

... Pheromones are chemical substances released through our sweat glands to cause a change in the reproductive behaviour of another person and can directly stimulate a man's sexual behaviour through olfactory sensors processing information. The pheromones are detected through the Vomeronasal Organ (VNO) in the nose. The VNO functions as the distinct sensory apparatus that detects pheromones for humans. The pheromones, through the VNO, stimulate the Hypothalamus in the centre of the brain, which is the centre of our emotions. The New APC gay pheromone sends a signal of attraction, sexual feelings and desire...

Scientia Sexualis

Mon 11.01.2004 @ 6:03 pm

... The society that emerged in the nineteenth century - bourgeois, capitalist, or industrial society, call it what you will-did not confront sex with a fundamental refusal of recognition. On the contrary, it put into operation an entire machinery for producing true discourses concerning it. Not only did it speak of sex and compel everyone to do so; it also set out to formulate the uniform truth of sex. As if it suspected sex of harboring a fundamental secret. As if it needed the production of truth. As if it was essential that sex be inscribed not only in an economy of pleasure but in an ordered system of knowledge. Thus sex gradually became an object system of knowledge, the general and disquieting meaning that pervades our conduct and our existence, in spite of ourselves; the point of weakness where evil portents reach through to us; the fragment of darkness that we each carry within us; a general signification, a universal secret, an omnipresent cause, a fear that never ends. And so, in this "question" of sex (in both senses; as interrogation and problematization, and as the need for confession and integration into a field of rationality), two processes emerge, the one always conditioning the other; we demand that sex speak the truth (but, since it is the secret and is oblivious to its own nature, we reserve for ourselves the function of telling the truth of its truth, revealed and deciphered at last), and we demand that it tell us our truth, or rather, the deeply buried truth of that truth about ourselves which we think we possess in our immediate consciousness.
